Will dry cleaning ruin my clothes

One of the biggest questions we get from our customers: Will dry cleaning ruin my clothes?

This is a common concern, and we understand why you might be worried. So, let’s break it down into three main points to give you a clear answer.

1. Product Exposure in Dry Cleaning

One of the first concerns people have is about the products used in dry cleaning. They often wonder if these chemicals can damage the fabric of their clothes.

The Truth:

If the dry cleaners have been properly trained and know their machines and products well, this shouldn’t be an issue. It's crucial to choose a reputable company that understands the correct levels at which their machines should be set. Experienced professionals in a reputable company will ensure that your clothes are handled with care, minimizing any risk of damage from the cleaning products.

2. Fabric Wear and Tear in Dry Cleaning

Another concern is whether the mechanical action in the dry cleaning machine, similar to a washing machine, could cause wear and tear on the fabric.

The Truth:

While there is some mechanical action involved, the amount of wear and tear from dry cleaning is minimal compared to washing machines. Dry cleaning is generally safe for garments, and although there might be a tiny bit of wear over time, it’s much less than what you would see with regular washing. Keep in mind that every garment experiences some wear and tear the more you wear it, regardless of the cleaning method.

3. Colour Fading/Colour Loss in Dry Cleaning

Lastly, people worry about whether dry cleaning will cause their clothes to fade.

The Truth:

Dry cleaning can cause some color fading, but it’s less likely compared to washing. With years of experience, we've learned that some brands are more prone to color fading, particularly along stitching areas. However, dry cleaning remains the better option for preserving the color of your clothes. It’s less harsh than regular washing, which means your garments retain their vibrant colors for longer.
